Angelina Jolie, star of films such as “Look at Me!”, “Look at Me 2!: Look Dammit!” and the upcoming live-action thriller “I Shoot Your Face III” died instantly this morning while filming the followup to her recent Nurofen back pain relief commercial.
Jolie was reprising her role of Lara Croft for the ad, which sees her climbing a mountain range to reach a hidden treasure.
Wearing a clingy skintight black outfit and fresh collagen injections in her lips, Jolie’s character has a back spasm at a crucial moment, but is saved by taking a Nurofen tablet, which she keeps in a secret compartment in her outfit.
The commercial-rumoured to have cost $145 million dollars- was being filmed in the Swiss Alps.
The accident occurred while Jolie was preparing to film the climax in which Lara Croft (Jolie) opens the fabled Tomb of the Golden Nurofen, the source of Nurofens pain healing power.
Standing on a cliff, she lost her footing and fell 3 kilometers to her death.
Although the plunge to her death took an estimated 6 minutes, Jolie was able to use a satellite phone she was carrying to organise a final adoption with the Ethiopian Government and make a call to her agent, before she finally impacted with the ground.
Reckitt-Benckiser, owner of the Nurofen brand, praised Jolie’s depiction of Lara Croft, but said that they had enough footage to allow them to complete the commercial, so “..it’s not really a problem”.
The commercial will air worldwide next week on network television to honor her memory.
