26 year old Blackburn North resident Bruce Enphil is today recovering in hospital after he was allegedly kinghit in an unprovoked attack at a local bar last night.
Police are questioning Collingwood President Eddie McGuire over the incident.
Witnesses claim they saw a man resembling Channel Nine personality McGuire walk up to the entrance of the bar last night, where the local man had been standing with several friends, waiting to enter.
It’s alleged McGuire struck Bruce Enphil from behind, knocking him to the ground. McGuire then shouted “How do you like it?! Leave me boys alone you big fucken bully!” before running off into the night.
Several witnesses claim McGuire appeared to be crying hysterically as he left.
It’s believed the attack by McGuire was in response to the assault on Collingwood midfielder Scott Pendlebury this weekend which left him unconscious.
However Bruce Enphil has denied any involvement in Pendelbury’s attack, with police verifying that he was not involved in the Collingwood players attack and was not even in the same state at the time.
Sources within the Collingwood Football Club claim that McGuire had ‘gone rogue’ after Pendlebury’s allegedly unprovoked attack, and declared “I’m gonna clean up the streets and make it safe again for my boys to go out at night. They’re just children, poor defenseless children. I’m gonna make the public pay for what they did to my little Scotty-boy.”
After Pendlebury’s assault McGuire announced that Collingwood players were being unfairly targeted by the public, and that he would take steps to protect his team.
“My boys will be taking self defense classes from this week. I’ve also given them each a whistle with instructions to blow it loudly if they feel they are being sexually harrassed, and I’ve bought each player a Smith and Wesson .357 Magnum handgun loaded with hollow point bullets, which they are to carry with them at all times, including training and during games next season” said McGuire.
AFL CEO Andrew Demetriou labelled the move to arm players with guns “a reasonable, measured response” to increasing threats of violence against the AFL.
“I bought an AK-47 and 300 land mines last week after I told Football Federation Australia to stick their Soccer World Cup bid up their arse. I don’t want no wogs playing soccer at Etihad Stadium. There are already 33,000 people on Facebook who want me dead. I think everyone in the AFL should be armed, to be honest” said Demetriou before accidently shooting his personal assistant in the face.
Police are continuing their investigation.
