Archie Andrews, of Archie Comics fame, has upset the comic world by officially proposing to Wilma Flintsone, currently wife of celebrated neanderthal quarry employee Fred Flintstone.
Celebrity blogs have been in overdrive since last week when rumours first started to circulate that Archie was preparing to pop the question to either Betty or Veronica. SportsBet hads posted Veronica as the firm favourite, but long time followers were putting their money and support behind Betty.
In a surprise move that shocked everyone, Archie declared his undying love for Wilma Flinstone.
Wilma and Fred Flintstone have been seemingly happily married for over 65 million years.
In 2001 Fred made headlines when he was arrested for DUI and domestic abuse, but the case was dropped when Wilma refused to press charges, blaming his actions on the negative publicity after a stolen sextape was posted on the internet.
Wilma Pebble Slaghoople Flintstone has been in hiding since Archie made his proposal public, with speculation rife that Fred was “prepared to rip Archie a new Jughead if he came anywhere near Wilma” said one source close to the Flintstone family.
Insiders in both camps have hinted that they were aware of Archie and Wilma meeting at a secret rendezvous several times over the last 12 months, but claim both parties insisted it was only to discuss possible roles in a celebrity reality tv show for Fox.
The Fox Network have denied they have any such show in production, but admitted they were involved in bidding for exclusive rights to televise the Archie/Wilma wedding.
